If you’re at the UN Oceans Conference today in New York you might be interested in attending CITES & Partners’ two side events happening this evening at UNHQ.

Side event 1: Traceability for fish and seafood in supply chains
Wednesday, 7 June 2017, 6.30pm – 7:45pm, Conference Room B, UNHQ

Organised by the Swiss Federation in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), GS1 and the CITES Secretariat, the side event will discuss how traceability can facilitate compliance with trade regulations and CITES government to government certification standards of sustainability & legality. The event will discuss internationally agreed standards that are fair, transparent, uniform, effective and predictable such as FLUX.

Side event 2: Supporting recovery of fisheries through cooperation on threatened species and implementation of trade measures
Wednesday, 7 June 2017, 6.30pm – 7:45pm, Conference Room B, UNHQ

This side event was organised by the CITES Secretariat in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and with interventions from the European Union, the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) and the IUCN’s Fishery Expert Group. It will focus on how partnerships tapping into synergies between sustainable fisheries, conservation and trade can contribute to achieve SDG 14.4.
