Dear ENV Friends and Supporters,
I hope many of you in the US had a wonderful holiday with your families. We had a very busy Thanksgiving day this year in Vietnam. A hawksbill turtle was confiscated in Nha Trang city of Khanh Hoa province and released back into the ocean thanks to a volunteer who reported the case to ENV and helped pose a fake potential customer. ENV currently has 17 volunteer clubs in major urban centers and more than 6,000 volunteers who act as ENV’s eyes and ears all over the country. They have been playing a crucial role in helping to stop the illegal wildlife trade in Vietnam.
On the same day, two leopard cats were confiscated from a local resident’s home in Binh Thuan province by the environmental police after receiving the report from ENV. Authorities said that they would release the animals into a local Nature Reserve.
One day earlier, a frozen tiger was confiscated in Thai Nguyen province after a week surveillance by National Environmental Police. We have been investigating this case for two years and we are extremely happy that the subject was finally arrested. No doubt that the subject will face prosecution.
We are very thankful for your support and we could not have done these without you.
By the way, we have just created a non-profit organization in the US which will help support our work in fighting wildlife crime in Vietnam and other country. Please follow and help share our new Facebook page within your network https://www.facebook.com/envwildlifeconservationtrust/ .
