Louisiana Delta Adventures will proudly present the World Tour of the 11th Annual Reel Paddling Film Festival on September 22, 6:00-8:00 at the Louisiana Tech University Planetarium in partnership with the Louisiana Tech Idea Place, North Central Louisiana Arts Council (NCLAC), the City of Ruston, and the Ruston-Lincoln Parish Visitors and Convention Bureau. See Facebook Event Page
The Reel Paddling Film Festival is an international adventure film tour presenting the world’s best paddling films of the year – whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP, action and lifestyle – in more than 120 cities and towns across Canada, United States and around the world!
With 21 inspiring paddling films shortlisted for the World Tour, including the festival category winners, audiences will see hairy whitewater action, sea kayakers exploring remote coastlines, northern river canoe expeditions, international river travel films, motivating environmental documentaries, grueling kayak fishing battles and hilarious short films capturing the lighter side of paddling life.
Attracting paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts, audiences can expect a fun, social and entertaining event inspired by compelling films like: Martin’s Boat – honoring the legacy of Martin Litton with an expedition in the Grand Canyon; Kayaking the Aleutians – more than 2,500km and 20 open water crossings across the remote and stormy stretch of islands between Russia and Alaska; Paddle for the North – six mates, three canoes, two dogs, and two months along 1,500km of remote North American rivers; The Path of Grey Owl – bushcraft expert Ray Mears reflects on Grey Owl’s message of protecting our wilderness; Go Big or Go Home – professional athletes travel the world in search of big water and the perfect wave; Big Fish Stories: Expedition Hauka – friends spend two weeks in northern Sweden following legends of monster pike; Our Local Epic – modern day explorers follow dangerous whitewater in the Clarks Fork, one of North America’s deepest Canyons; Voyageurs without a Trace – follow the path of 3 Parisians who were the first to attempt kayaking the Colorado and Green Rivers in 1938, with current filming and original exceptional 16mm footage; and many more incredible stories.
The Reel Paddling Film Festival World Tour is produced by Rapid Media and presented in Ruston by Louisiana Delta Adventures, whose goal for the event screening is three fold: promoting paddling in Northeast Louisiana, encouraging film makers to consider producing a Louisiana-based film, and engaging like-minded paddling enthusiasts with resources to enjoy our waterways. H2GO & BOTE Boards will provide refreshments for the intermission.
Space will be limited to the first 100. Attend and vote for your “People’s-Choice Favorite”. All attendees will also receive a free subscription to a paddling magazine. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO ATTEND THIS EVENT. Click here to “attend” and be notified of any other upcoming news regarding the film festival screening. All those who click “going” will be added to a door prize drawing for a kayak to be given away by the Bank of Ruston at the event!
